Bar is the hub for many people to come and relax on the weekends. Everyone wants to enter the bar that welcomes them and makes them feel comfortable. Young people are very selective of which bar they go to, they often look out for the nicest bar with great interior designs and great ambience. This is one important reason for the bar interior designers to furbish their ideas and create a beautiful place that has mix of beauty with the charm and the warmness.

Bar has to bring an ebullient attitude to the interiors; this work can only be done by professional bar interior designers who have expertise in this area.

Process of designing

Bar interior designers have to organize a plan like any other process, they are responsible in meeting with the owner to decide on what color, what material is needed to polish the entire place. Bar interior designers then sit with their team members and discuss the plan that is being passed by the owner of the Bar.

The interior designing process can take a long time depending on the expectations of the bar owner. Bar interior designers some times go through stress of organizing the whole process of designing, because designing a bar takes lot of concentration and dedication in giving the customer or the client what they want.

Bars interior designing usually can really be stressful, it is very demanding, especially because interior designing is the most important aspect of any bar. Bar interior designers are perfectionist modelers when it comes to designing and modeling the bar. Interior designing process itself takes many days before the bar interior designers finalize the entire project.

Bar designing ideas

There are many bar interior designers that go through millions of ideas before refurbishing their ideas and centralizing them to one concept. These ideas usually depend on whether the bar is going to be built as a home bar. With home bars there are many varieties as kegger bar, bar back, portable party bar, L-shaped wet bar and the straight wet bar. Most times the home built bars have storage areas, adjustable shelves of glasses and liquor bottles and cabinets.

Bar interior designers are specific on the designs, usually bar tops are made of high pressure surfaces that are heat resistant and water proof. Some bars also have refrigerator systems and built in sinks to keep the drinks and kegs cold.

Bar interior designers also have lots to think in terms of decorating bars. Some bars have common design elements as the neon sign. Neon signs come in various colors and designs and are very affordable. There are other signs that are included in bars which are basketball, racing, football and other sport signs, some times novelty signs and liquor signs as well.

Martini shaker, shot glasses, cocktail glasses, mixers, blender and bar tools are the most needed accessories of bar which are designed accordingly to make the bars look attractive, I think without which the bars are incomplete.

Interior design is the process of shaping the experience of interior space, through the manipulation of spatial volume as well as surface treatment. Not to be confused with interior decoration, interior design draws on aspects of environmental psychology, architecture, and product design in addition to traditional decoration.

An interior designer is a person who is considered a professional in the field of interior design or one who designs interiors as part of their job. Interior design is a creative practice that analyzes programmatic information, establishes a conceptual direction, refines the design direction, and produces graphic communication and construction documents.

Market for Interior Design:

There are two types of market for interior design:

•	Residential Interior Design

Residential interior design focuses on the planning and/or specifying of interior materials and products used in private residences. In terms of scope and contract amount, residential jobs are often smaller, but offer a higher profit margin particularly if you are marketing the products to be used in designing the rooms.

•	Commercial Interior Design

Commercial jobs, on the other hand, are often much bigger in scope but the bidding that often accompanies the contract can push down your profit margin. Commercial design covers a wide variety of specialties, such as entertainment, facilities management, government/institutional , health care (e.g. hospitals, nursing homes, long term care facilities); retail or store planning (e.g. boutiques, department stores, malls, food retailing centers); hospitality/restaurant (e.g. country clubs, hotels, cruise ships); and offices.

Tips for Choosing Good Interior Designer:

•	Hiring a good designer

Good interior designers are like good therapists. They don’t tell you what to do, rather they guide you through a process of helping you determine your options and helping you select those options that best suite your style. You should strongly consider the merits for major renovation projects. Also, if you need some creative assistance, a good designer will help make your remodeling efforts a success.

•	First Impressions

You should interview several interior designers before making your final selection. Be sure to review pictures of their recent work for similar home improvement projects. A good designer will have a portfolio of pictures from several of their recent remodeling projects for you to review. Pay particular attention to their style and consider whether it aligns with your goals. Ask for the designer for referrals and contact each prior client. Some prior clients may hesitate to answer your questions, but most will answer one important question: Would you re-use the designer for a future remodeling project?

•	Attentive Listening

Many interior designers will appear to be listening, but then politely ignore your suggestions. There are times when this may be acceptable and times when this is bad. It may be acceptable if the designer is very good at what they do, has taken the time to understand your overall objectives and then chooses to offer alternatives if your suggestions do not fit well with their overal design plan. It is generally bad when an inexperienced designer ignores your suggestions, does his or her own thing and then ultimately you are unhappy with the results.

•	Experience Matters

The ideal interior designer will have many years of experience working with builders, remodelers, contractors, vendors and other suppliers. They should have depth of experience in fabric, appliances, furniture and other accessories. After listening to your desires, they should be able to take you to showrooms, fabric stores and other suppliers that will offer you products that complement your individual style.

If you would like a career in interior design, then it is essential that you take interior design courses. Interior design courses will cover the basic principles and elements of interior design and ensure that you have the knowledge to embark on a career as an interior designer. It’s important to understand that there is a difference between and interior designer and an interior decorator. An interior designer is a trained professional who deals with the underlying concepts of design as they pertain to space. An interior decorator focuses on the decorations of a room, where the designer is the one with the training who determines the best use of design principles to transform a space into a visual work of art.

There are many signs that a person would make an excellent interior designer. Interior designers are often very alert, taking in their surrounding environments with a keen interest. If you find that when you go some place, you are quickly observing the surrounding physical space and are redesigning the area in your mind, you should consider a career in interior design. Those who have a natural talent for interior design are often very artistic as well as creative. If you think a career in interior design is right for you, then you should consider taking interior design courses.

It’s also important that those who are interested in careers in interior design know how to work well with other people. Not only will the interior designer be part of a team that must work together to complete the project, but also he and she must be able to communicate well with clients and contractors. Taking interior design courses can help many gain the skills they need to become professional designers.

The area of interior design is vast, and there are many interior design courses that you will need to take to ensure that you are prepared. You might choose to take a diploma course as this is convenient and can be completed in a time frame that works with your schedule. One important class that you will need to take will focus on drawing and the aspects of making models, using computers, and creating 3D objects for the purpose of design. As an interior designer, you will focus on much more than simply choosing fabrics or art prints. You will focus on the overall design of structures from an architectural point of view. It is this knowledge that will be used later in your career, to ensure that you can fully maximize a room’s special potential.

Another very important aspect of interior design has to deal with color. It isn’t enough simply to understand space and design. You must know the principles of color and light and use them in a variety of ways. There are numerous ways in which interior designers use light and color to create a number of different effects. Choose interior design courses that offer these classes.

In addition to architecture, light, and color interior design courses must also focus on the business side of the job. Interior designers must know how to market themselves in the business world and understand the correct tactics used for interacting with contracting companies as well as clients.

You love to bring a theme to a room, to make things look just so. Perhaps friends who visit your home make remarks about wishing they could hire you to fix up their place or that they never know what goes with what. If you seem to be a natural at interior decoration, why not become an interior designer?

There are steps you can take that will ease you onto the road to becoming a professional interior designer, bringing your passion to life.

The terms interior designer and interior decorator are often used interchangeably. Both generally mean that you will create a pleasant space in the dimensions given that you won’t make major structural changes in the house. This is important as actually altering the configuration of a house, or a room, may need a permit, license and there may be other red tape which involves building contractors and other professionals.

That said, if you want to do interior decoration for a living, the following considerations may be of help.

Education and training:

While you may be able to hang out a shingle and proclaim yourself an interior designer, you may also not have too many clients. In general, people looking to hire you will want to know where you received your education. There are a lot of schools out there, many of them reputable. However, be sure to do your research before you pay for a series of classes that will never do anything except take your money.

Training will likely be more important than the mere fact that you’ve been educated in interior decoration. While it may take longer, getting a job with an established interior designer may make things easier for you in the long run. Not only will you make a salary (though just starting out may mean the salary is rather small), you will learn on the job and receive real-world training.

Prepare a portfolio:

No matter what you do, a prospective employer or client will want to see what you can do, in a range of interior design options. Can you create a chic country look? How about a warm, modern feel? How can you prove it? This is where your portfolio comes in. When you work on an interior decoration project, you’ll want to take lots of pictures, have them organized and easy to go through. Your portfolio will sell you, so make sure it’s a tool that shows off the best you have to offer.

Practice:

Your home is your personal showcase. Try different looks within it, just to see what looks good. While you may have found the perfect interior decoration for your living room, try switching things up. While it may not be the look for you, someone else may like it. Plus, you’ll have the chance to step back and figure out why something doesn’t look right—or why it looks great.

Tap your friends for help. There’s no reason you can’t offer your interior design services to friends, as long as you get to take pictures of the finished product for your portfolio. Be sure to take before-and-after pictures to showcase your interior designer talent as you create a wonderful living space. If cost is a problem, try using what is currently there or find different, cheaper options, like moving furniture from other rooms in the house.

Network:

Attend home shows as an interior designer. Take your portfolio, dress up a corner of the booth, or raffle off a free interior design consultation. Your name needs to be out there in order to create a business.

Try and visit home shows even if you don’t rent any space. Introduce yourself to the various participants and hand out business cards. Get in touch with established interior designers; ask them how they got started, if they have any tips for someone just starting out. Usually there is plenty of business in an area to go around. Talk to builders and contractors, offering interior decoration for their model homes.

Make sure you have good business cards. They are often your longest-lasting impression on potential clients, and a badly designed card doesn’t fill people with confidence that you’ll do great interior decoration. You don’t want to be a nuisance, but giving your business card when you are introduced to someone is a good way to get your name out there.

Specialize:

What type of interior design do you want to do? If you want to work on office buildings, building a portfolio of cozy bedrooms will not help you much. If you want to create wonderful interior decoration on a shoestring budget, talking to a contractor who works on multimillion dollar homes will likely be a waste.

Continue to learn your craft:

Even if you take every step known to man to become an interior designer, if you forget to continue learning your craft, you will likely not get far. Interior design changes regularly. Trends alter, offices and homes change, and you should be prepared to adjust. Subscribe to interior design magazines, join a group of decorating professionals, make sure you watch trends– basically take steps so that you and your work never become stagnant. Only in this way can you offer fresh ideas to your clients.

There isn’t a quick way to be an interior designer, particularly if you want to be a good one. However, the above steps will hopefully ease your way along that path. Above all, be sure to enjoy your chosen profession, for that’s the best way in which you can always please yourself and your client.

Interior design careers require not only a sense of design, but also technical aptitude and sophisticated communication skills. A bachelor’s degree and passing mandated government exams is just the beginning of this highly competitive – but rewarding and inspirational career.

Designing your life with a career in interior design can give you the lifetime reward of living with a job you love. Interior design careers are for the creative individual who also has the ability to manage the creativity logically and enjoys working with materials. To be a successful interior designer, you must also be able to communicate the creative and logical aspects of your design to clients.

An interior designer works for their client. The client will issue their requests, demands and specifications for the interior design. The interior designer will then take those specifications and create a design, using creativity and talent to create a design, and educational background and on-the-job experience to make the design a reality. Textiles and materials, form and function, safety and security are all areas of study that the interior designer has to master. Aesthetics must meet functionality and it starts with a degree.

Your Interior Design major will begin with the fundamentals. These courses will include learning about the basic principles, processes and elements of design, types of materials and furnishings, identification of fabrics and textiles, and utilization of space. From there you will move on to the physical properties of materials, composition, light, color, sketching and mechanical drafting. Later in your education, your studies will focus on blending the visual and the practical, then move to business practices, government regulations, environmental considerations, communication and building your portfolio. Safety courses will include fire regulations, building codes, ADA regulations, and space constraints.

Most states require an interior designer to be insured. To qualify for the exam, you will need six years of college, and work experience. If you claim you are an interior designer in those states and perform work, it’s possible you could be criminally prosecuted. Once you complete your education, complete the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam. The NCIDQ exam is administered twice a year and includes three sections. Section One is “the Principles and Practices of Design (Building and Barrier Free Codes included), Section Two is “Contract Development and Administration,” and Section Three is “Schematics and Design Development.” Once you pass your NCIDQ exam, you will be assigned a certificate number and get your license.

During your studies you will likely find your area of preference and expertise. An interior designer can work in general interiors in residential or commercial buildings, or they can specialize, working for just restaurants, hotels, skyscrapers, or any other specialty that they’ve found their talent for. An interior designer might work for a large corporation, a small design firm, or out of their own home. The interior designer’s education, license, portfolio and work experience will determine reputation and career.

Interior design takes a great deal of creativity, skill and knowledge. Years of education and training take place before your interior design career becomes a reality – but once it does, your life will be designed for success.

Any home can be pleasing with the proper application of basic interior design methods. Some people study interior design to be very good at it but there are people who are gifted with an eye for beauty and for interior designing.

A person who is creative can do some interior designing on his own even without formal training. Those who have an eye for what is aesthetic can just as easily decorate and design his own house depending on his tastes. Of course, it helps to read books and articles about designing to be updated on the basic and latest design methods.

Any interior designer can create a specific atmosphere just by putting together several pieces and unifying them in a single theme. There are interior designers who have a bias for certain motifs like eclectic, modern or even country style. Some go for simple designs without the clutter.

Interior design is not only aesthetic but also functional depending on the requirements of the client. An interior designer can make a small room spacious and an otherwise cluttered room into an orderly one. Interior design is used just about anywhere from homes, offices to commercial buildings.

The interiors of a room should always match the personality of the person who will occupy that room. This is the reason why designers always work closely with their clients so they can make sure that they get a feel of what their clients want in terms of design style.

People have this notion that interior design is expensive. However, designers are not only creative people but they are also very good in budgeting. Most designers will work on a design that will match or fit the budget of their clients. A person can allot a minimal amount for the interior design of his home or office and still come up with an aesthetic and functional room.

Professional interior designers who are formally trained usually have basic knowledge on architecture, engineering and even accounting. They need these courses to make their design aesthetic, structurally correct and cost effective.

The terms Interior design and interior decorating have often been used interchangeably. However, the two terms actually deal with different phases of making a room or a space aesthetic. Interior design is basically the process of studying the personality of the occupant of the room being designed in order to maximize and tailor-made the room’s design for that person’s behavior and personality.

Interior decorating on the other hand is the process of actually mixing and matching the different design techniques like window treatments, the right wallpaper, wall finish and even the furnishing of a room.

There are a lot of opportunities for those in the interior design and decorating industry. An interior designer can go into designing household, corporate or commercial establishments. Others specialize in the design of health facilities or even tourism establishments.

The latest trend now for those in the interior design industry is to be able to incorporate the right engineering and aesthetic design with sustainable development. Even designers are now more conscious about the state of the environment so they tend to use environmentally friendly materials for their designs.

There are designers who specialize and use Feng Shui in their designs. This requires further study because Feng Shui deals with the Chinese’s ancient methods of designing a space to make the design work for the owner’s health, business and other life factors.

The Chinese believes that a structure should be properly designed so as to allow positive energy to enter the structure. When the structure has already been built without the aid of a Feng Shui expert, the mistakes can be corrected through proper interior design using the Feng Shui methods.

By incorporating Feng Shui in interior design, it is believed that a person can bring out all the positive energies in a room to make him rich, happy and healthy. An interior design using Feng Shui can also get rid of bad spirits that bring in negative atmosphere in an abode.

Getting the services of an interior designer can make a room both aesthetic and functional. Any person who wants to make his home livable and functional should try getting the services of an interior designer to maximize his space.

What types of professional interior designers are available?

Have you heard of Interior redecorators? These professional interior decorators transform your home using things you have accumulated over the years. The end result is a balanced, harmonious space that reflects the personality of the people who use it. Many interior designers have added this service to their repertoire. Alternate terms for professional interior designers specializing in interior redecorating are interior redesigners, interior arrangers, interior stylists, one day decorators, visual coordinators or interior refiners.

What is a Certified Interior Designer? (from B&P Code Section 5800,5538)

A Certified interior designer is a competent design professional who is qualified to design, prepare, and submit any type of nonstructural, non-seismic interior construction plans and specifications to local building departments. Certified interior designers have demonstrated through education, experience, and examination their knowledge of the Uniform Building Code as it relates to space planning, life safety, flammability, and disabled access code issues. Most interior designers have a minimum four-year education. Many have Master of Interior Design degrees or other additional education in architecture or interior design. Interior designers who have many years experience may not have a Bachelors in Interior Design, but usually are well educated and have many years of qualified experience. All qualified interior designers will indicate that they have passed the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Certification) examination and/or are registered/ certified/ licensed in their state.

How do Interior Decorators charge for their services?

Flat Design Fee: The client pays a flat fee for the professional interior designer’s services based on the design plan, time required, and scope of services.

Hourly Rate: The interior decorator bills a negotiated rate per hour.

Cost Plus Method: Professional interior designers charge a set percentage on all merchandise purchased and tradesmen’s services rendered.

Mixed Method: The client pays both a set percentage on purchases and a base design fee for hourly rate.

Per square foot: This method is used especially in new construction.

What to ask at the first meeting:

 •	Ask to see the interior designer’s portfolio, but remember that the designs reflect other people’s tastes,¬ not necessarily the interior decorator’s, and possibly not your own.

•	Ask what size projects the interior designer has worked on, where, and what was the budget range.

•	Ask how the established budget will be handled, and the kind of payment schedules the interior decorator requires.

•	Ask about the types of services the designer can provide.

•	Ask for a list of references.

What you may be asked at the first meeting:

It is a good idea to prepare for your first meeting with a professional interior designer by creating your own folder of clippings from magazines, catalogs, and books of design ideas that appeal to you.

You may also be asked some or all of the following questions:

•	For whom is the space being designed?

•	What activities will take place in the space?

•	How long do you plan to occupy the space?

•	What is your time frame for completing the project?

•	What is your budget?

•	Are you relocating or remodeling?

•	What image do you want to project?

•	What colors, style, and effects do you like?

•	What are your objective and lifestyle needs?

•	What is the approximate square footage to be designed?

If a professional interior designer, or anyone, for that matter, tells you the process is easy, stress-free, and will be complete in two weeks, they’re either lying or stupid. Don’t hire that person.

Design professionals are your resource to the latest trends, best products and ideas to help assist you in the best possible way to achieve your goals. The designer will do the footwork for you while providing the very best for your budget. They can save you hundreds of dollars on just one project by helping to prevent costly mistakes. The agreed upon fee can be by the hour or by the project depending on the client’s needs. Below I have outlined some tips for choosing a designer:

1. Interview several designers to find the best fit for your project.

2. A professional will be upfront about the fees and cost so there will be no hidden fees that will surprise you in the end. Ask questions!

3. Find a designer that fits your budget and project. Some professionals only deal with certain aspects of design and have a minimum charge. Interview over the phone first and get some pricing upfront.

4. Be sure to express your feelings to the designer and keep the lines of communication open.

5. This should be an enjoyable experience! If not, then choose another designer. Any recommendations you can get from other clients are always helpful.

6. A true professional will be able to buy at wholesale and save you money!

7. Get references! A professional will have references and photos that show projects that have been completed. Ask detailed questions about any concerns you may have about the projects completed. Actually check the references from the portfolio.

8. Address any concerns about the time that you have appropriated for the project, monies involved and the overall schedule that you must meet.

9. Discuss the quality you expect and what you hope to gain from this project.

10. Get any details in writing that you feel necessary. Such as: project time limits, monies to be paid to the designer, contracts, agreements and the scope of the work.

Remember that your designer is a complete resource for the creation of the lifestyle that you want to bring to your home or office. Hiring a designer can be one of the best decisions you ever make!
